Cultivate is a discipleship programme designed to immerse young men and women in the Word of God, to bring them into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and to seek God’s will for their lives.

MINISTRY VERSE

Isaiah 55:12-13

For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

Our Heart

The heart for Cultivate is to see young men and women immersed in the Word of God and to see young people from all around New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Rim brought together to seek the Lord. Firstly, we desire to see young men and women come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Building upon their initial salvation, we then desire to see Students taught, grounded in, and inspired by the Word of God. We desire to see them discipled and raised up to walk in the will of God for their lives, equipping each Student with the tools necessary to live the life Christ has redeemed for them.

Secondly, we desire to see young men and women from youth groups and/or churches within New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Rim unified and brought together despite ethnic background, location, or denomination. We desire to see them unified, and in one mind and one heart, seek the Lord, encourage one another and raised up to serve alongside one another in a ministry context within New Zealand.

Our Goals

We desire to make disciples of young men and women by allowing them a space to encounter God and cultivate a deeper relationship with God. Our goal is that they would encounter:

The Word of God through daily personal devotions, group devotions and Bible classes.

Fellowship through community worship and prayer, Games/ Activities, and our three-day Beach Camping Trip.

Discipleship and mentorship through practical Workshops, our Talks, one-on-one accountability and biblical counselling.

Missions and servanthood through hands on training during a short mission trip and community-based outreach.

The Lord’s will for their lives through setting aside two weeks of their summer holidays to spend time with Jesus and seek Him.

Our Stories

Over the course of Cultivate, we all learned lots of things about ourselves and about God. I think one of the most important things God was trying to teach me was that we aren’t alone. We aren’t alone in our sin or alone without hope. We all struggle with sin but we don’t need to let it hold us down. God loves us and wants to see each of us succeed. I think it was important for me to know this, that we aren’t alone. He is with us. God continued to work in and through all of us over Cultivate and overall a really awesome time in the Word, fellowship and getting to know one another. Lots of volleyball, devotions, worship and swimming. A great experience for all of us and a great time for God to work in us.

Going to Cultivate was one of the biggest things that God has done in my life. I went knowing nobody and with a faith that was broken. I came away from Cultivate with a second family and a faith stronger than ever. A big obstacle for me before Cultivate was reading and understanding the Bible; during Cultivate, we learned how to do an inductive Bible study in the class taught by Joe Crispi! It was amazing and has helped me to understand God's Word on a deeper level!

Becka Clark (Student, Summer Programme 2020)

Cultivate was a great blessing. It was my first time as a Counsellor, which came with many challenges, but it was amazing to see God work in all the Students here. I felt like I learned a lot as well. One being relying on Christ for strength and not just trying to make it on my own. The days are long and packed with fun games so I found out quick that I can’t do it on my own. It was hard but it was great to see what God could do through me once I did it in His strength. Again I’ll say it, Cultivate was a blessing. Spending time with the Students, talking with them, doing life with them, it was all a blessing!

Brett Cox (Counsellor, Summer Programme 2020)

Before I went to Cultivate I had lost alot of my friends from school and was being badly influenced by the remaining friends I had. It wasn't until I came to Cultivate that I experienced what true friendship is like. Everyone at Cultivate seemed to care about me in a way I had never seen before. I knew when I went home I had some changes I needed to make but I was scared that I would be alone. During Cultivate, God taught me that I may be lonely but I am never alone; God will always be there for me even when no one else is.
